Galvanized steel is a zinc-coated Steel used as a protective layer against corrosion. The galvanization is a chemical process that allows coating of tens of microns in thickness on areas that are exposed to the air. The coating is external and not to the full depth of the material.
Galvanized Steel is relatively inexpensive and is available in sheet form in a various thicknesses so it can be easily cut by laser cutting machines. It is used for signs, welding parts, stencils, painted products, grids and filters, bending parts and more.
Laser Cutting of Galvanized Steel
In Lasercut4 we cut galvanized Steel up to a thickness of 3 mm and hold a variety of thicknesses in stock.
Laser cutting of Galvanized Steel is preformed well and with a fine quality. Different thicknesses can be cut with high accuracy in complex and detailed graphics (for example, mesh or lace structure). High reproducibility allows the production of the same part each time. The applications are endless and the range of industries that are assisted by Laser Cutting technology is extensive, including the construction industry, medical industry, architecture and design. It is used for cutting Mechanical parts, designed ornaments for indoor and outdoor uses, stencils, connectors and more.
Laser Engraving of Galvanized Steel
Like Carbon Steel, Galvanized Steel is cut in a good and fast manner with laser technology, allowing for precise and small details. Similar to other steel parts, after cutting, the parts can be finished with paint.
Laser cutting exposes the interior of the material at the edges where the Laser beam makes the cut. In cutting thin sheets the area of the incision is relatively small.
It is also possible to perform Galvanizing process after the cutting, thus ensuring good corrosion resistance over time. Alternatively, it can be manufactured in stainless steel metal, thus saving the coating process both in terms of cost and time.
